            Pastor’s Paragraphs:
In the past two weeks I have conducted four funerals. I know this is part of my responsibility and God helps me with them. However, sometimes it seems difficult in trying to bring words of comfort and assurance. There is one passage of Scripture that I always use, John 14. It is here that the words of Jesus come to us with assurance, comfort, and help. I came across this poem the other day and it helped me, perhaps it will encourage you as well.
John 14:1
Though all the world be troubled
And men’s hearts fail with fear
At dangers in the distance
And danger drawing near.

Though every help shall fail them
On which their hopes are stayed,
Let not your heart be troubled
Nor let it be afraid.

Though all the world be troubled
And its foundations shake,
Though raging seas shall thunder,
And mighty mountains quake.

Let not your heart be troubled,
Nor let it be afraid:
Oh blessed Word of Jesus!
And faithful from of old;

You shall not be confounded,
Nor shall you be dismayed.
Let not your heart be troubled
Nor let it be afraid.
May God help us to take to heart these words and those of John 14!                                 - Bert
